Korea Rep. qualify for their 7th consecutive World Cup

Korea Rep. have qualified for their 7th consecutive World Cup, the first time an Asian team has ever done so. On the 6th, they played UAE (away) in their FIFA World Cup South Africa Asian Final Round Qualifier and goals from FW PARK Chu Young and MF KI Sung Yueng secured a 2-0 victory. With 14 points Korea Rep. have assured themselves of at least a 2nd place finish in Group B and therefore World Cup qualification with two matches still remaining.
In the 5th minute Korea Rep. FW LEE Keun Ho had a header from a right sided cross and just 3 minute later MF LEE Chung Yong’s pass found PARK Chu Yong who controlled well on his chest before shooting with his right foot to open the scoring. Then in the 37th minute Korea Rep. MF PARK Ji Sung’s cross from the left wasn’t cleared well by the opposition defense and KI Sung Yeung coolly tapped in from in front of goal.
In the 49th minute MF KIM Jung Woo received his second warning and was sent off but the momentum didn't switch to the opposition. In fact they continued to attack with PARK Ji Sung dribbling through the middle and playing a through ball to LEE Chung Yong who had a good chance to shoot but the match remained 2-0.
According to the Korea Rep. Football Association head coach HUH Jung Moo commented saying “We are fortunate to have a good understanding of the World Cup. What’s important is how we perform at the actual finals tournament. We need to forget about what has happened already and focus on what we need to do from now on”.
