FC SEOUL beat the league leaders to move into 2nd place: K-League Round 17 Day 1
On May 30th Round 17 Day 1 of the K-League was held with league leaders GWANGJU SANGMU PHOENIX playing 4th placed FC SEOUL. SEOUL won 2-1.
In the 7th minute of this top of the table clash, former Korea Rep. DF CHOI Sung Kuk opened the scoring with his head for GWANGJU. SEOUL finished the first half goalless despite 11 first half shots but in the 50th minute Korea Rep. national team MF KI Sung Yueng scored directly from a FK to equalize. Then in the 57th minute Korea Rep. national team MF LEE Chung Yong scored the winning goal for SEOUL with a header.
It was GWANGJU’s first loss in 9 matches and SEOUL join league leaders GWANGJU on 23 points, temporarily in 2nd place. The remaining Round 17 matches will be played on July 25th and 26th.
