JEONBUK HYUNDAI MOTORS FW LEE Dong Gook scores twice to move nearer the lead: K-League Round 24

On the 19th and 20th day 1 and 2 of the K-League Round 24 were played.
2nd placed JEONBUK HYUNDAI MOTORS played at home to BUSAN I.PARK. They won 3-1 to temporarily move within 1 point of the lead. It was 1-1 at half time before Korea Rep. national team FW LEE Dong Gook volleyed in a cross from fellow Korea Rep. national team MF CHOI Tae Uk to give his team the lead. Then LEE scored again in the 79th minute to secure the points.

In 4th place on 32 points, SEONGNAM ILHWA CHUNMA played 5th placed INCHEON UNITED FC in a top 5 battle and in the 23rd minute Korea Rep. national team MF KIM Jung Woo’s goal gave SEONGNAM the lead. However in second half injury time INCHEON Korea Rep. national team FW YOO Byung Soo equalized to square the match up at 1-1. Within the 6 team play off ranks is 6th placed GWANGJU SANGMU PHOENIX but they lost to 8th placed GYEONGNAM FC having been in the lead. GYEONGNAM, who have now won 5 in a row, move up into 6th place.

The match between FC SEOUL, who have progressed to the quarter finals of the AFC Champions League, and 3rd placed POHANG STEELERS is set to be played on October 7th.

SUWON SAMSUNG BLUEWINGS had a bye this round.
