Team Introduction
When you visit DPR Korea, you will see people playing football in a vacant plot everywhere you go. The people of DPR Korea are as crazy about football as Brazil. Their traditional style is to retain the ball with a series of short passes as they wait for the opportunity to break through the opponent's open space, and that is what is drilled into the young players when they are honing their skills. DPR Korea's unshakable philosophy has allowed them to contend equally at the world's top level, carrying the men's team to the quarterfinals in the 1966 FIFA World Cup™. For the women's side, they have won the Asian Championship twice, came in second twice, and played in the World Cup™ finals two times.
Although they did not qualify for the Athens Olympics, DPR Korea captured the title at the Universiade 2003 in Daegu, Korea Rep. Furthermore, this April Lee Un Sim and Kim Gyong Ae transferred to Sweden's top league Balinge IF. These are signs that they are not short of talent. Currently ranked 7th in the FIFA world rankings, they hold the best position in Asia. With pride and commitment as Asia's best ranked team, DPR Korea is determined to win this tournament.
