Harness East Asia's innovative flair and collective strengths to explore new possibilities for football, to promote solidarity within the region and provide a game-changing football experience to the world.
About the EAFF E-1 Football Championship emblem
The metallic outer shell surrounding the tournament title symbolizes both a football and our planet, Earth. The shining light in the upper right signifies the Sun that rises in the East, and represents the development in football that will originate from East Asia.
The seamlessly connected pentagons of the football represent Asia's solidarity and its world influence, and the design floating against a black background embodies the aspirations of the competition to continue to be innovative and leading-edge.
Message from the President of the East Asian Football Federation
We have a wonderful lineup of finalists competing in the EAFF E-1 Football Championship 2017 Final Japan.
Round 1 of the preliminary competition started in June of last year, and the Chinese Taipei men’s team and the host country Guam’s women’s team qualified for Round 2. Although these two teams were not able to advance to the final competition, they made a strong impression that convinced everyone of the solid progress of East Asian football.
The final competition kicks off on December 8, and China PR, Japan, DPR Korea and Korea Republic will be contending for the men’s and women’s championship titles. With the 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM only six months away, football fans will be treated to heated games in the men’s competition reflecting the good rivalry between Japan and Korea Republic, the two teams qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM. This competition will also serve as a crucial opportunity to prepare for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification, which has entered the final phase.
Meanwhile, East Asia’s women’s teams are among the best in the world, and fans can look forward to outstanding football equaling the level of a world championship. Rival teams around the world will also be taking note of the performance and result of each team.
Every team will be tough to beat, but I hope all the teams will demonstrate fair play and respect as they thrill us with exciting matches worthy of the climax of the championship. It is also my wish that this competition will contribute to the development of football in East Asia and friendship among its Member Associations.
I would like to close by thanking the 10 Member Associations, the official sponsors and supporters for their support and cooperation toward this competition.
