May 22 - At the Suwon World Cup Stadium, coach Ahn Iksoo's U-19 national team defeated Japan in the final match of the '2016 Suwon JS Cup U-19 International Youth Football Tournament'. Cho Youngwook scored the match's only goal in the 76'.
Korea used a 4-1-4-1 formation against Japan. The four-man defensive line was Shin Chanwoo, Woo Chanyang, Lee Sangmin, and Lee Youhyeon. Protecting the backline was Park Hanbin, and in front of him was an attacking line of Kim Moogun, Lee Seungmo, Han Chanhee, and Kim Jinya. The lone center forward was Won Dujae. Donning the goalkeeper gloves was Song Bumkeun.
In the first half neither side was able to any real threatening chances. Both teams wanted to attacking through passing buildup, but the other side would keep intercepting the passes. Another factor that could not be ignored was the issue of fitness following the short interval between matches. The weather was also a hot and humid 30 degrees Celsius. Match officials decided to give the teams one water break during each half.....
