Hong Kong U22 squared off against Singapore U22 in MFF Stadium, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on Friday afternoon for the opening fixture in the AFC Under-23 Championship qualifiers Group G. Hong Kong U-22 netted the opening goal in the game but could not hold on to the lead, eventually shaking hands with Singapore U-22 on a well-fought 1:1 draw.
Both sides started the game rather cautiously and the first legitimate scoring chance did not take place until the 35th minute, as Singapore’s Joshua Pereira unleashed a cracking long-shot that failed to hit the intended target.
