On Wednesday 30 October, the U-17 Japan National Team played their second group stage match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 against the U-17 USA National Team. The Japanese side struggled against the persistent defence showcased by the USA and finished the match in a scoreless draw.
Following their 3-0 shutout victory over the Netherlands, Japan made two changes to their starting line-up, as SUZUKI Zion (Urawa Reds Youth) started in goal, with the defence line of HATA Taiga (Funabashi Municipal High School), SUZUKI Kaito (Jubilo Iwata U-18), HANDA Riku (Montedio Yamagata Youth), and NAKANO Shinya (Sagan Tosu U-18). While NARUOKA Hikaru (Shimizu S-Pulse Youth) and FUJITA Joel Chima (Tokyo Verdy Youth) played as the central midfielders, TAMURA Souki (Kashiwa Reysol U-18) and MITO Shunsuke (JFA Academy Fukushima U18) were positioned in the flanks.
