Kuala Lumpur: Among the big transfer news in recent weeks has been Japan forward Takumi Minamino’s move from Liverpool to French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco after spending three seasons and picking up a number of trophies with the Reds.

Soon after, one of the biggest names in ASEAN, Vietnam’s Nguyen Quang Hai, followed suit and joined Ligue 2 side Pau in a move that will generate huge intrigue among fans across the continent.

Saki Kumagai (Olympique Lyonnais, 2013 – 2021)

When Japanese defender Saki Kumagai made the move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Olympique Lyonnais in 2013, she already had a FIFA Women's World Cup medal to her name, having scored the winning penalty in the 2011 final against the United States when she was just 20. Her trophy cabinet was about to get a whole lot bigger.

The Sapporo native, who was often deployed in a holding midfield role at Lyon, was part of a side that dominated both domestically and on the continent as she claimed an incredible seven Division 1 Feminine, six Coupe de France and five UEFA Women’s Champions League titles. .....
