The 36-year-old, who played twice in the 2020 AFC Champions League as Kobe reached the semi-finals, joins Marinos after last season’s first-choice goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka left the club last week to join Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps.
Iikura started his career with F Marinos before joining Kobe in 2019, helping the club to the Emperor’s Cup title at the end of his first season and to a penalty shoot-out victory over Yokohama in the Japan Super Cup at the start of 2020.
