Kuala Lumpur: Kaoru Mitoma scored for Brighton & Hove Albion in a 3-3 draw with Brentford this week, breaking the record for the most goals scored by a Japanese player in a single season in England’s Premier League, while Australia’s Sam Kerr became the ninth player to reach 50 goals in the Women’s Super League.

Uzbekistan forward Eldor Shomurodov scored his first goal in Italy’s Serie A since his loan move from AS Roma to Spezia while Islamic Republic of Iran striker Sardar Azmoun found the back of the net for Bayer Leverkusen as they defeated Japan defender Maya Yoshida’s Schalke 3-0 in Germany.

England: Mitoma surpasses Kagawa and Okazaki



Brighton & Hove Albion star Kaoru Mitoma is now the Japanese footballer with the most goals in a single Premier League season after he bagged his seventh strike of the campaign in the Seagulls’ thrilling 3-3 draw against Brentford in England on Saturday.

The 25-year-old surpassed the six-goal tally achieved by both Shinji Kagawa for Manchester United during the 2012-13 season and Shinji Okazaki for Leicester City during the 2017-18 campaign. .....
