황선홍 감독이 이끄는 올림픽대표팀은 26일(한국시간) 카타르 도하의 압둘라 빈 할리파 스타디움에서 열린 2024 아시아축구연맹(AFC) U-23 아시안컵 8강전에서 연장전까지 2-2로 비긴 후 승부차기에서 10-11로 인도네시아에 무릎을 꿇었다. 이로써 한국은 오는 7월 열리는 파리올림픽에 출전하지 못하게 되면서 올림픽 본선 연속 진출 기록이 9회에서 멈췄다.
이번 대회는 파리올림픽 아시아지역 최종예선을 겸한다. 상위 3팀은 올림픽 본선에 직행하고, 4위는 아프리카의 기니와 대륙간 플레이오프를 통해 올림픽 티켓을 노린다. 총 16개국이 4개 조로 나뉘어 조별리그를 치른 후 각 조 1,2위 팀이 8강 토너먼트로 우승자를 가린다. .....
