Taipei: Sri Lanka closed out their AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Qualifiers Final Round Group Dcampaign in impressive style on Tuesday as Abdullah Al Mutairi’s side cruised to a 3-1 win over hosts Chinese Taipei at Taipei Municipal Stadium.

Goals from Rahul Suresh and Niloshan Senthurvasan in the 18th and 26th minutes respectively gave the visitors a two-goal cushion at the interval and Christopher Tiao’s 53rd minute own goal all but confirmed Sri Lanka’s victory.

Yu Yao-hsing pulled one back with a 55th minute header for Chinese Taipei but it was not enough to spark a comeback by Matt Ross’ outfit, who ended the campaign bottom of the standings without a point from their six qualifiers. .....
