Team Introduction
The history of Hong Kong football in Asia is quite long. The domestic league is the oldest professional organisation in all of Asia.
In the Preliminary Competition of the East Asian Football Championship 2003 , Hong Kong was victorious in all 4 of its matches against Chinese-Taipei, Macau, Mongolia, and Guam. They did not allow a single goal from their opponents throughout the preliminaries. As Coach Tsang Wai Chun stated, "The morale of the players was high and the enthusiasm was obvious." The players were relentlessly and persistently on the offensive.
The Hong Kong team consists of veteran players such as the top scorer, number 7, Au Wai Lun, number 8 Captain Cheung Sai Ho, who earned the MVP award, and the 35-year-old Lee Kin Wo, as well as young and upcoming players. It will be interesting to see how well they will compete against the 3 major Asian football powers.
Moreover, by competing against the top East Asian football teams,Hong Kong will grow and the level of football will improve. Consequently, the level of football in East Asia will improve, fulfilling the objective of the Federation. |

Message from Head Coach
The Hong Kong Representative Team is much delighted to earn the right to play against the three football super power in Asia, namely China, Japan and Korea in the finals of the inaugural East Asian Football Championship.
To compete with the three 2002 World Cup™ Finalists in the same platform is a thrill and privilege to the Hong Kong Team, and we will treasure this unique opportunity to learn from our counterparts. Most important of all, we would also like to show to the world of football that our football standard is improving. |
