President’s Message

Dear Football Families of the East Asian Football Federation,
It is with great joy that we gather in Hong Kong, China, for the EAFF E-1 Football Championship Preliminary Competition 2024. After seven years, this exciting event returns to Hong Kong bringing with it passion and the spirit of competition.

Football in East Asia has made significant strides at all levels over the years, and it is a pleasure to witness the success of our Member Associations on the international stage. China PR, DPR Korea, Japan, and the Korea Republic are all competing for a spot in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 to be held in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, in the AFC Asian Qualifiers. Moreover, the DPR Korea and Japan U20 Women’s teams competed in the final of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, showcasing their talent and the DPR Korea U17 Women’s team has marked a remarkable achievement of becoming the Champion in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. We hope that this competition serves as a platform to highlight the passion, power, and skills of our teams.

In this Preliminary Competition, five participating teams will fiercely compete for the fourth slot in the EAFF E-1 Football Championship Finals, which will be hosted next year in Korea Republic. We look forward to witnessing the teams inspire the next generation and create lasting memories.

I extend my sincere gratitude to the Football Association of Hong Kong, China Ltd., the host of this competition, for their tireless efforts in making this event possible. I also extend my best wishes to all participating teams.

Let us come together to celebrate the beautiful game and make this competition one to remember.

May the best team win!
