In the 8th minute, tall striker Shao Ziqin, who had also scored against Korea Rep., headed the ball onto the post and then finished the rebound himself to open the scoring. Just eight minutes later, China PR struck again. After chaos in the box from a corner, Shen Mengyu reacted quickly and fired the loose ball into the net. The first half ended with China PR leading 2–0.
At halftime, both teams made two more substitutions each. Then came the twist. Chinese Taipei, who seemed on the verge of collapse, fought back with two quick goals. In the 55th minute, Su Yu-Hsuan cut inside from the right and scored a brilliant goal to pull one back. Then, in the 68th minute, a driving run by Chen Jin-Wen set up Chen Yu-Chin to score the equalizer. Suddenly, it was 2–2, and Chinese Taipei’s energy was clear to see. But in the closing stages, China PR shut the door on Chinese Taipei’s hopes. In the 82nd minute, Wang Yanwen fired from distance to regain the lead. Then, deep into stoppage time (90+6’), Shao Ziqin sealed the win with another trademark header. The match finished 4–2 in China PR’s favor. Despite the loss, Chinese Taipei’s spirited comeback made this an impressive game to watch.
