January 23 (KST) - Coach Shin Taeyong led the Olympic team to a 1-0 victory over Jordan, thanks to a Moon Changjin goal, at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. The win sees the Olympic team advance to the semifinals of the 2016 Rio Olympics Final Qualifier/AFC U-23 Championship.

Coach Shin Taeyong selected his strongest lineup for this must-win game. Hwang Heechan (Salzburg) and Ryu Seungwoo (Leverkusen) were the two forwards in a 4-4-2 diamond formation. The midfield was Moon Changjin (Pohang), Kwon Changhoon (Suwon), Park Yongwoo (Seoul), and Lee Changmin (Jeju). The four-man backline was Shim Sangmin (Seoul), Song Juhun (Mito Hollyhock), Yeon Jeimin (Suwon), and Lee Seulchan (Jeonnam). In goal, Gu Sungyun (Consadole Sapporo) replaced the ailing Kim Dongjun.

From the beginning of the match, the Olympic team aggressively attacked Jordan with the midfield pushing forward to apply pressure. Jordan's defense played deep and compact, leaving the Olympic team to attempt long-range shots and set plays. In the 6' Lee Seulchan let loose a powerful shot that deflected wide for a corner. A minute later his cross found Kwon Changhoon in front of goal, but the Suwon man just missed the target.

After the 10 minute mark, the Olympic team began attempting even more long-range efforts. Still the goal did not come. Korea focused their attacks down their right side and into the middle, but Jordan resolutely defended their goal. Danger came for the Olympic team in the 20'. Gu Sungyun came out to clear a ball, but instead presented a Jordan player an opportunity to shoot. However, the ensuing shot missed the goal.

Then the Olympic team struck, scoring the opening goal in the 23'. Kwon Changhoon crossed from the left-side of the penalty area, and the Jordan defense wasn't able to properly clear the ball. It fell to Ryu Seungwoo on the right, who passed it back to Moon Changjin, who stroked it past the keeper with his right-foot.

After the opening goal, the Olympic team looked to seize the momentum. In the 32' they had a chance from a free kick, but the Jordan defense blocked it. The Olympic team launched wave after wave of attacks, but the Jordan defense stood firm. Jordan attempted to use counterattacks, but they were ineffective. The first half ended with the Olympic team leading 1-0.....
