January 26 (KST) - At the Univerisade Stadium in Shenzhen, China, coach Yoon Dukyeo led the South Korea women's national team against host China in the final match of a four-nation friendly tournament. The match ended with China winning 2-0. The women's team defeated Vietnam 5-0 in the opening match before falling to Mexico and China (both 0-2 losses) to finish with a record of 1-0-2. Of the four nations, South Korea, China, Vietnam, and Mexico, the women's team finished in third-place.
With the tournament finished, the players will be given a short break before reconvening for another training camp from February 4-25. The final round of qualifying for the Olympics begins on February 29 in Osaka, Japan.
For the final match against China, the women's team fielded their strongest line up. Yoo Younga was the team's lone forward with Jung Seolbin, Ji Soyun, and Jeon Gaeul as the attacking midfielders. Cho Sohyun and Lee Youngju were the two holding midfielders. The four-women backline was Lee Eunmi, Kim Doyeon, Lim Seonjoo, and Kim Hyeri. Kim Jungmi was the goalkeeper.
The women's team allowed the opening goal early on in the match. In the 11' a cross came in from the flank, and defender Kim Doyeon's attempted tackle caused the ball to bounce off the crossbar. China's Ma Xiaoxu collected the loose ball and scored with a right-footed shot. Coach Yoon made his first substitution in the 34' with Lee Mina replacing Yoo Younga in an effort to boost the attack.
In the second half, with the equalizing goal still not coming, coach Yoon made two more changes with Cho Sohyun making way for Lee Sodam, and Jung Seolbin being replaced by Kim Sooyun, but the changes had little effect. Later in the 77' China's Wang Shanshan scored another goal for China. In the final minutes of the game, defender Lim Seonjoo had to be replaced by Hong Hyeji.....
