Hong Kong clashed heads with Guangdong on Wednesday evening for the second leg of the 39th Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup. Hong Kong and Guangdong shook hands on a hotly contested 1:1 draw but fell short in aggregate 3:4, losing out on this year's trophy.
Guangdong came up with the first scoring chance of the game on the 3rd minute, when a corner-kick attempt by the visitors was headed sideways by a Hong Kong defender. Wang Song pulled the trigger from a tight angle but drilled his shot high above the net.
Hong Kong nearly opened the score on the 8th minute, when Wong Chun-ho knocked the ball into the Guangdong penalty area. Tam Lok-hin dished out a thunderous header at the front-post but headed the ball just high above the Guangdong net.
