Doha: Wu Lei’s winner saw 10-man China record a 2-1 comeback win over Qatar in their final fixture of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
China went into the match with faint hopes of third place and the play-offs but the heavy win required plus defeats for Uzbekistan and Syria was not forthcoming, as China finish in fourth place in Group A with 12 points, while Qatar end their campaign at the bottom of the group with seven.
Qatar took the lead in the 47th minute after showing fine combination play before Almoez Ali squared the ball to Akram Afif who scored past Zeng Cheng.....
