AFC U-16 WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP GROUP B: JAPAN STUN CHAMPS DPR KOREA

Chonburi: Japan came from a goal down, and produced late heroics to beat reigning champions DPR Korea 2-1 in the match of the tournament so far at the 2017 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Thailand.

The result sees Naoki Kusunose’s side finish as winners of Group B, after Yuzuki Yamamoto’s lofted 86th minute cross fooled everyone, and trickled into DPR Korea’s net.

Earlier, an 18th minute goal from Kim Kyong-yong – who is becoming the star of the tournament with eight goals in just three matches – gave DPR Korea a half-time lead, before Momoka Kinoshita levelled the match with 14 minutes remaining.

Japan are now set for what will be a highly-anticipated semi-final clash with Korea Republic, while DPR Korea will face China PR for a place in the final.....
