The Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Carlos Antón as its new Technical Director. He previously served as the HKFA’s Elite Development Coach from 2016 to 2018 and then moved to Academy Head Coach until he left in March 2020. Mr. Antón assumes his new role officially today.
Mr. Antón holds a Master’s degree in Sport Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Science, as well as a UEFA Pro License. The Spaniard has almost 20 years of enriched experience in football management, coaching, scouting, and teaching in Europe. Previously, he worked as a manager, coach, scout and instructor in various famous European clubs, including Derby County FC and Bristol City FC in England, as well as Malaga CF, Real Madrid CF and San Roque de Lepe in Spain. Prior to rejoining the HKFA, he was the Senior National Team Coach of Kuwait Football Association.
HKFA Chief Executive Officer Mr. Joaquin Tam is pleased to welcome Mr. Antón on board. He said, “I’m delighted that Carlos is rejoining the HKFA as Technical Director. Carlos has a wealth of knowledge, both in theory and practice, as well as a good understanding of football culture in Hong Kong.
