This will be Hong Kong's fourth participation in the AFC Asian Cup. Their last appearance was back in 1968 — the longest wait among teams in this edition.

Hong Kong have failed to win their 10 games in the AFC Asian Cup (D3 L7) – the longest current winless run in the competition among teams in this edition.
