Osaka: As part of a drive to ensure that football remains all-inclusive, the Japan Football Association (JFA) launched the inaugural Mental Health Asian Football Programme in Sakai City, Osaka earlier this year from January 15 to 18.
Supported by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation, the landmark initiative comprised the Dream Asia Cup 2025, a futsal tournament, as well as an international conference and two symposiums that ran alongside the competition.
The programme was borne from the desire by the JFA to establish an environment in Asia where individuals with mental health issues are able to engage in football, with the longer-term aim of eliminating prejudices against mental issues and working towards a more inclusive society. .....
