The men’s national football team finished its two March friendlies with back-to-back losses after falling to Austria.

The Korean men’s national team, led by head coach Hong Myungbo, lost 0-1 to Austria in an international friendly held at Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna at 3:45 a.m. on April 1 Korea time. Korea had also suffered a 0-4 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire on March 28.

These two matches largely served as dress rehearsals for the teams Korea will face at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America this June. Korea has been drawn into Group A alongside the Czech Republic, Mexico, and South Africa. The Côte d’Ivoire match was intended as preparation for South Africa, while the Austria match was seen as a tune-up for the Czech Republic. .....
