The men’s U-17 national team wrapped up the 2026 AFC U-17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia with a quarterfinal finish, securing a place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup finals to be held in Qatar this November.

Led by head coach Kim Hyun-jun, the U-17 national team was drawn into Group C alongside the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Vietnam, and Yemen. Korea Republic opened with a 1-1 draw against the UAE, then recorded a commanding 4-1 win over Vietnam in its second match. A 0-0 draw against Yemen saw Korea collect five points from one win and two draws, enough to finish second in the group behind Vietnam on six points and advance to the quarterfinals. At this Asian Cup, all eight quarterfinalists qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup finals in Qatar this November.

In the quarterfinals, the U-17 side faced Uzbekistan, the Group D winners. After the match ended 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes, Korea lost 3-5 in the penalty shootout that followed immediately and fell short of the semifinals. .....
