The third day of the Women’s EAFF E-1 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2022 FINAL JAPAN took place at Kashima Soccer Stadium in Kashima, Japan, pitting Japan against Chinese Taipei.
Both sides were on the offensive right from the beginning. In the 8th minute, Chinese Taipei's CHEN, YEN-PING’s corner kick was headed past the Japanese netminder by defender SU, SIN-YUN, giving Chinese Taipei an early 1-0 lead.
In the 14th minute, Japan used a corner kick to advance the ball to the penalty area, allowing Japanese forward CHIBA REMINA to head the ball into the net to tie the game 1-1. CHIBA REMINA barely missed another pair of successive scoring opportunities.
In the 23rd minute, she made an excellent shot that went just wide of the right goalpost.
In the 29th minute, she took another shot that just barely missed on the left.
In the 48th minute, NAOMOTO HIKARU placed another corner kick in the penalty area for the Japan side. NAOMOTO HIKARU was able to pass the ball inside the penalty area to allow UENO MAMI to score off of a header and put Japan ahead 2-1.
The first ten minutes of the second half featured both sides in a firece battle for possession. In the 58th minute, Japan launched a swift attack into the penalty area. A Chinese Taipei player mishandled a clearing attempt, rebounding the ball to defender SEIKE KIKO, whose subsequent shot gave Japan a 3-1 lead.
Japan went on the attack again two minutes later. MIYAGAWA ASATO fired off a shot from inside the penalty area, and SUGASAWA YUIKA put the rebound into the net to give Japan a 4-1 lead.
Chinese Taipei tried to organize the final counterattack, but could not penetrate into the penalty area. The final whistle granted Japan a 4-1 victory.
