15th East Asian Football Federation Executive Committee Meeting

RELEASE

The 15th EAFF Executive Committee meeting was held from 10 a.m. on Monday, 12 December 2005, at the Takanawa Prince Hotel, Sakura Tower, in Tokyo Japan. The following items were discussed/approved by the committee.



(1) The 2007 East Asian Football Championship
Preliminary and Final Competitions
  Following the decision of AFC to move the AFC Asia Cup from 2008 to July, 2007, the committee discussed the dates for the 2007 East Asian Football Championship and agreed to organize it between 1 January 2007 and 31 March 2008. After consultation with the host association, China PR, the competition dates will be finalized and approved at the earliest possible opportunity.
(2) A financial report for the year 2005 (January-December) was given. The income reached US$7,022,679 and the expenditures amounted to US$5,875,000. The amount to be carried over to next year, after taxes, is estimated to total US$923,840.
(3) The committee approved the budget (US$1,424,740) for the year 2006.
(4) The committee approved the activities for 2006, which include the Congress, the U-13 Festival (scheduled to be held in China PR), and the Youth Championship to be organized with the AFF.
(5) A report was given about the Northern Mariana Islands FA (NMIFA) joining FIFA/AFC, and the committee confirmed that the application for admission has already been submitted to FIFA on 15 November 2005.
(6) A report was given about the AFC Executive Committee's approval to admit Australia to the South East Asian region at the 1 December 2005 meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The EAFF Executive Committee agreed to submit a letter to AFC, signed by the representatives of the nine FAs of EAFF, requesting the rectification of the imbalance of the number of member FAs among the four Asian regions. The EAFF Executive Committee also agreed that a meeting of the Legal Committee should be called at the earliest possible date to discuss this matter.
