23 players have been called up for matches 5 and 6 of the second-round of qualifying for the 2018 Russia World Cup. The list is similar to last month's squad with no major changes. Cho Hyunwoo (Daegu FC) and Yun Youngsun (Seongnam FC) were given their first senior team call ups.
November 2 - At the KFA house, coach Uli Stielike announced his 23-man list for the two qualifiers in November. From the group who played last month against Kuwait in the World Cup qualifier and against Jamaica in the friendly, Hong Jeongho (Augsburg) and Kwon Changhun (Suwon Samsung) were left off the list, and were replaced by Cho Hyunwoo and Yun Youngsun who both received their first senior call ups. Two other players who received calls were Son Heungmin (Tottenham) and Lee Chungyong (Crystal Palace) who both were unable to play last month due to injury. Hong Jeongho suffered an injury last weekend with his club team, and could not be called for the national team. Kwon Changhun was called up to the Olympic team, and will play in the four nation friendly tournament in China.
Stielike's side is on a four-match winning streak in the second-round of qualifying (AFC) and is protecting their lead at the top of the table. Korea has picked up 12 points in group G play having defeated Myanmar, Laos, Lebanon, and Kuwait. Korea currently holds an advantageous position to advance to the final round of qualification for the Russia World Cup, and there is a lot of interest from fans for these two matches. The team will arrive at the Suwon Ramada Hotel at 2pm on November 9, and then face Myanmar on November 12 at Suwon World Cup Stadium. After that the team will depart for Laos on November 15, and will play match 6 of the second-round of qualifying for the Russia World Cup on November 17 against Laos......
