Former Korea Republic head coach Hong Myung-bo has agreed to join Hangzhou Greentown FC, the Chinese Super League club announced on Thursday.
Hong, who oversaw the Taeguk Warriors’ disappointing 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign in Brazil before being dismissed, has joined on a two-year deal to become the third South Korean coach in the Super League, joining Park Tae-ha at Yanbian Changbaishan FC and Chang Woe-ryong at Chongqing Lifan FC.
"We've decided to hire Hong as our new head coach after a long deliberation," Greentown announced on the club’s official website.
"Hong was one of the most famous players in Asia, and he led Korea Republic to a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics. We hope his leadership will help us achieve better results next season."....
