China qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games after their 1-0 defeat of Korea Republic was followed by Australia’s 2-1 win against DPR Korea as Monday’s results guaranteed the Steel Roses and the Matildas a top-two finish with one round of the Asian qualifiers for Rio remaining.
Wang Shanshan scored the only goal as unbeaten China secured a first Olympic Games appearance since 2008, with the 26-year-old finding the net two minutes before half-time at the Nagai Stadium as the eight-time Asian champions added to earlier wins over Vietnam and Japan and a draw against DPR Korea.........

Australia qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games after goals from Michelle Heyman and Katrina Gorry sealed a 2-1 win over DPR Korea in the AFC Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016 qualifiers on Monday.
Heyman’s 18th minute strike sent Australia into the break with a 1-0 lead and after Kim Su-gyong responded in the 78th minute, 2014 AFC Player of the Year Gorry netted seven minutes from time to send the Matildas to their first Olympic Games since Athens in 2004.........
Japan 6 - 1 Vietnam
Six different scorers netted for Japan as they defeated Vietnam 6-1 on the penultimate round of fixtures at the AFC Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016 qualifiers on Monday.
Mana Iwabuchi, Shinobu Ono, Nahomi Kawasaumi (pictured), Emi Nakajima, Yuki Ogimi and Kumi Yokoyama all found the net for the hosts, while Huynh Nhu struck Vietnam’s first goal of the competition by way of consolation.........
