South Korea participated in the Olympic football for the first time in London in 1948. The upcoming Rio tournament is the 10th competition for the Taegeuk warriors. These are interesting records related South Korean football’s Olympic history.

- Lee Chunsu scored 2,000th goal of the Olympic

Since men’s football was selected as an official event in the 1908 Olympic 2,163 goals were scored. Lee Chunsu’s goal in the quarter-final match against Paraguay in 2004 was 2,000th goal of the Olympic.

-Mexico again

As Korea meets Mexico in the Rio Olympic once again, the two countries will have played 5th Olympic football match. They played in 1948, 1996, 2004, 2012 and Korea has an all-time record of 2 wins and 2 draws. Meanwhile, Italy and Spain have the most face-to-face record. The two countries faced each other 6 times in the competition.

- 0 : 12 defeat was not the Olympic record, fortunately!

Korea was defeated by Sweden 0-12 in London in 1948 London Olympic. That was the record for most goals conceded in Korean football history. However, that was not the most goal conceded record in the Olympic. In 1908, Demark defeat France 17-1 and Germany smashed Russia 16-0.....
