Korea Republic men’s U-20 national team’s Asian Cup journey came to an end after a penalty shootout against Saudi Arabia in the semi-finals.

Lee Changwon’s charges were held to a goalless draw by the Saudis after extra time in the semi-final staged at the Youth Football Training Base Centre in Shenzhen, China on Thursday, before losing 3-2 on penalties to bow out of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup.

Korea Republic had claimed a ticket to the FIFA U-20 World Cup finals by edging Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals on Sunday, but ultimately fell short of their goal of winning the continental championship for the first time in 13 years since 2012. They had also failed to reach the final two years ago in the latest edition of the Asian finals in 2023. .....
