East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) held its 20th Executive Committee Meeting on 28 February 2007 in Beijing, China and made the following decisions:
1) East Asian Football Championship 2008 Preliminary Competition Play-off (in Home & Away system)

2) East Asian Football Championship 2008 Preliminary Competition

| Venue: | Macau-China | |
| Participating Teams: | Chinese Taipei, Guam/Northern Mariana Islands, Hong Kong-China, DPR Korea, Macau-China and Mongolia | |
| Competition Format: | The six participating teams are divided into two groups of three teams each. Each group plays in accordance with a league system. The top team of each group qualifies for the final match. The champion of the Preliminary Competition qualifies for the Final Competition. | |
| Draw Ceremony: | To be held in Macau at 16:00 on 15 March 2007. | |
3) EAFF Women's Football Championship 2008 Preliminary Competition
| Date: | 8-12 July 2007 | |
| Venue: | Guam | |
| Participating Teams: | Chinese Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong-China and Korea Republic | |
| Competition Format: | A round-robin league system. The champion of the Preliminary Competition qualifies for the Final Competition. The match fixture will be announced in Guam on 31 March 2007. | |
