On October 13, Korea U-19 national team led by An Iksoo beat Thailand 3-1 in the AFC U-19 Championship. The match was held Bahrain national stadium located in Riffa. Korea went ahead with Han Chanhee and Jeong Taewook‘s goal. Thailand narrowed the gap by Anon Amornlertsak’s goal but Kang Jihun scored another one in the added time of the second half securing the victory. Korea will face Bahrain on October 17.
Coach An played 4-2-3-1 formation. Cho Youngwook was given a center forward role while Kim Siwoo, Han Chanhee and Kim Jeonghwan supported Cho. Park Hanbin and Kim Geonung played as defensive midfielders. Choe Ikjin, Woo Chanyang, Jeong Taewook and Lee Youhyeon consisted of back four. Song Bumkeun stood in front of the goal. Lee Dongjun who was sent off in the qualification campaign was eliminated from the entry. Barcelona’s Paik Seungho sat on the bench.
Korea had a dangerous moment in the early stage of the first half. Thailand put a through pass to the space behind Korean defense line. They threatened Korea with an accurate shot but the ball just went wide. Thailand players were shorter than Korean players but they showed fast movement. Korean players knew that Thailand was not an easy opponent. The South East Asian team were beaten 1-2 by Korea in the qualification last year.....
