Hong Kong U22 faced off against Japan Universiade U20 in the KBZ Bank 2017 opener on Wednesday afternoon in Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon, Myanmar. Hong Kong U22 conceded two first-half goals in the game and never recovered, eventually dropping a 0:2 decision against the Japanese side.
Japan Universiade nearly took the lead in the opening minute, when Kato Mutsuki penetrated deep inside the Hong Kong box before firing a shot one-on-one against Hong Kong U20 keeper Yuen Ho-chun. However, Yuen stood tall and made a great save to defuse the danger.
However, Japan Universiade U20 was not to be denied and jumped in front on the 12th minute. Sato Ryo floated a free-kick into the Hong Kong U22 box and created a melee. Issaka Zain seized the opportunity and poked the ball home from close range. The Japanese side was now up by a goal.....
