Following the footsteps of Nadeshiko Japan, the big sisters who have won the Women’s World Cup 2011 Germany,
the Little Nadeshiko defeated Spain, 2-0 in the finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup hosted in Costa Rica on
5 April, 2014. Commented as the team with “most skillful and entertaining football of the 16 participating
nations”, Little Nadeshiko not only scored the highest in the competition but also conclude in fewest goals in the
tournament. This wonderful achievement is a great example of how a tireless effort exerted on a long term project
built on solid and focused development pays off in great success!
EAFF is confident that this success of Little Nadeshiko will contribute to further development of Women’s football
in East Asia.
Congratulations to Japan and Little Nadeshiko!
