Team Introduction
Appointed head coach in March, 2005, Zhu Guanghu emotionally expressed at his inaugural press conference: "It had been my longtime dream to become head coach of the national team, so I don't know how to describe this special feeing." Hailed for his achievement of leading theShenzhen Jianlibao FC to national league champion and unanimously voted Best Coach, Zhu Guanghu is the first native national team head coach in eight years. No wonder the country's 1.2 billion people attach high expectations to Zhu and his team.

Coach Zhu's major objective is to merge and balance the experienced players, who took part in the 2002 FIFA World Cup™, and the younger players, who are aiming at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Their first trial was the European tour in March. Despite having the away team disadvantage, China PR went up against powerful Spain and Ireland, trying to assess exactly where its team stands against the rest of the world. In June, China PR played Costa Rica, against whom they suffered a crushing defeat during the 2002 FIFA World Cup™, this time gaining a 2-0 victory with an impressive attacking game. Seeing the team's potential, Coach Zhu feels that "the team has unlimited possibilities." The new China PR team is eager to prove itself by capturing the East Asian champion title this time.
