Team Introduction
China PR can be proud of their impressive record of capturing the Asian women's title an astonishing eight times. There is no mistake of their dominance in Asia, and on the world stage they have played in the FIFA Women's World Cup™ four times and the Olympics three-proof that they are indeed one of the leading teams around. Their unforgettable performance during the 1999 FIFA Women's World CupT final against the host, USA, attracted a crowd of 90,185, setting a record for women's sports. The winner had to be decided on penalty kicks, and though China PR was eventually defeated and took second place, they were on even ground with champion USA and deserved just as much praise. Full of vitality and will, the players all contributed in both offense and defense, displaying an all-out football style that became a legend among football fans worldwide.
Reaching the quarterfinals in the last World Cup™, China PR has since adopted a long-term plan of gradually replacing veteran players with younger talent, targeting the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. They were able to win the Asian champion title in April, 2004, though they were still in the middle of their transition. They have a large pool of talent, which is why China PR can remain at the top. |
