【Opening Address】
The East Asia Football Federation (EAFF), enjoying its 7th anniversary this year, will hold East Asian Football Championship (EAFC) 2010 and EAFF Women’s Football Championship (EWFC) 2010 Semi-Final Competitions in Kaohsiung and Tainan from 22 to 30 August 2009 for the slots for the final competitions of the 4th EAFC and the 2nd EWFC scheduled for February 2010 in Japan. With the great collaboration of Chinese Taipei Football Association, the Local Organising Committee and EAFF, we will make the competitions successful and the splendid teams who win the competitions will gain the tickets to Japan next year.
In advance of these competitions, EAFC 2010 Preliminary Competition was held in Guam in March 2009. Thanks to the tireless efforts of all members of Guam Football Association, the competition was completed successfully. It was Guam that the team conquered these fierce matches and went up to the Semi-Final Competition. I would like to express my sincere gratitude and congratulations to Guam Football Association. Including them, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong-China and DPR Korea who has qualified to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, all participating teams will show you exciting matches filled with the fair play spirit for sure.
In EWFC 2010 Semi-Final Competition, Chinese Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong-China, Korea Republic and Northern Mariana Islands will participate. I believe that they will also perform magnificently based on their accumulated fruitful experiences.
As we all know, sustainable support from all parties is indispensable for the success of a sports event. Over the past years, we have attracted much attention and support from the Official Sponsors, TV companies and other media. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all of you. I promise that EAFF will continuously endeavor to strengthen the ties of East Asian Football Family and improve the football development in the region through EAFC and EWFC. Your kind and continued support to East Asian Football and EAFF would be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes for this event!
